What am I?

Is there anybody out there who will hear my story? If so come as you are. As a friend. Or learn to fly. Fly, blackbird, fly. Into the eyes that no one looks in. My eyes. I can’t look at them myself. Because when you look into them, they look back. What are my eyes? Why is it that they are endless? Why should you be careful not to fall into them? Do you know yet? Or are you in the dark?

PIPA/SOPA

Everyone knows, by now, that PIPA/SOPA pretty much sucks. It’s a direct violation of the First Amendment to the U.S. Bill of Rights. Simply put, UNCONSTITUTIONAL! In the fallout of the passed few days, I’ve seen so many young people rise up and stand for what they believe in. Fighting for their rights. And it makes me so proud of my country, and the people in it, to see such a brave, smart, and proud nation rise up against a semi-Socialist government. Yes, our government is borderline Communist now. But, another thing that made me proud was how many spread the word and educated people on these 2 unfair bills congress is trying to pass. Bills being backed by the Music, Movie and Television industries. Sure, it’s not cool to steal music, movies or TV shows, but that doesn’t mean you have to go and violate our rights! This is a country full of people. Hard working Americans. Why make it more and more like a prison? Why push people into corners? Don’t you know that if you back an animal into a corner it’s going to act on instinct? It’s going to lash out in defense because it feels threatened. That’s not what being a nation united is supposed to be about. We are supposed to help each other to do better. To get better. To be a successful unit! I mean, this government is trying to takeover our lives! Our freedoms! First, there were computer chips put in Driver’s Licenses. Then, GPS tracking chips implanted into the feet of newborn infants. Then, “Checking-In” to a location which pinpoints your position on a map! Now, they want to control what we do on the internet? All of these things are DIRECT VIOLATIONS to the First Amendment. The government needs to stop with the control issues and be an open government like they promised to be. And leave our rights how they are! FREE! When people become oppressed, they tend to revolt. And then we have the government call us terrorists and activists, just so they can seem like the ones who aren’t wrong… Bullshit! If this doesn’t end, we’re gonna end up having a V for Vendetta movement on our hands… Let’s make this country a true democracy and not a dictatorship.

Music Nowadays

This year has been filled with a lot of musical highs and lows. Mostly lows, with everyone trying to be a House artist. Smh. It’s kinda hard to say which albums and songs I actually liked. There hasn’t been much variety. But, I must congratulate the difference makers. Bands like Foo Fighters and artists like Adele and Common. I know Young Jeezy has definitely taken it for Hip-Hop with his new release. Too many people are quick to overlook real talent. Lupe Fiasco is a top pick of mine who is overlooked by many. And indy artists such as Mac Miller and Yelawolf have gotten decent attention this year. But, everyone has been jumping on the bandwagon of YMCMB. Artists like Lil Wayne, Drake and Nicki Minaj have been made out to be greater than they are. Personally, they all disappointed me this year. They all put out mediocre, lack-luster albums in 2011. Yet, their albums faired well. Today’s music, and the young generation that listens to it, seems to lack in quality sound and lyrics. I mean, the beats are great, but the lyrics have no substance. I think it was best said in Eminem’s “Syllables” where he started the track by saying “It’s not about lyrics anymore. It’s about a dope beat and a catchy hook!” Truer words have never been spoken. Let’s hope 2012 brings us something better.
